Section 38 · Notice for a limitation of claims for compensation

(1)

As soon as is practicable after the issue of the notification under section 13, the Collector shall cause public notice to be given at convenient places, stating that the State Government intends to apply, or use the water referred to in section 13 in the manner specified in the said notification and that claims for compensation in respect of the matters mentioned in sub-section (3) of section 37 may be made before him.

(2)

No such claim for compensation shall be made after the expiration of one year from the stoppage, diminution or damage in respect of which compensation is claimed, unless the Collector is satisfied that the claimant had sufficient cause for not making the claim within such period.
