The 2024 transition
Compare the old law with the new
Type a section number from either code. This finds what it became, or what it used to be, and shows both texts side by side.
Convert many sections at once
Paste a whole FIR or charge-sheet line — every section's new (or old) counterpart, flagged where the punishment changed.

What changed on 1 July 2024
Three criminal codes were replaced on the same day. The Indian Penal Code became the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Criminal Procedure Code became the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the Indian Evidence Act became the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
An offence committed before that date is still tried under the old code. A charge sheet naming an IPC section in 2026 is not necessarily a mistake.
Most provisions survived with a new number and small drafting changes. Some were merged, a few were dropped entirely, and a handful are genuinely new.
That is why this site keeps both numbers on every page: one is what the law says today, the other is what every judgment before 2024 is filed under.
